The traditional OGIS 5th ULTRA TRAIL SAVINJA is successfully behind us. This year’s event offered routes of 4 km, 9 km, 15 km, 23 km, 53 km, and 97 km, along with 5 non-competitive routes for hikers. Unfortunately, the longest 185 km route was canceled due to snow on the section from Kamniško Sedlo to Okrešelj, as the conditions were winter-like. Additionally, the 97 km route was nearly compromised by the Savinja River, which flooded a marked section in Laško just hours before the start. Fortunately, the river receded quickly, allowing the event to proceed.

The other routes went smoothly, although we faced some challenges with walkers who helpfully removed the markers we set up to guide participants and prevent them from getting lost.

On the shorter routes, we experienced quite summer-like weather, and many participants probably wished it had been a few degrees cooler.

Yesterday, we already started cleaning up parts of our routes, and we will continue today and in the coming days. There’s still quite a bit of work to be done…
